2024 Abandonment

There is no denying that it has been incredibly tough, but we are focussing on the positives.

Sadly, we are not going to be able to create a replacement event this year.  Belsay Horse Trials has so many ‘moving parts’ with so many officials, judges, contractors, volunteers etc, that it’s almost impossible to rebook everyone, let alone get all our competitors, trade stands and sponsors back on a date that works for all.

Refunds and Insurance: We have already refunded all of our competitors 100% of their entry fee.  We are in also offering refunds to our trade stands and sponsors but many of them have been incredibly generous and are ‘rolling over’ to next year.

Thank you all for your support and understanding – we have received so many lovely messages– it really is heart-warming.  Please, rest assured we will be back, bigger and better for 2025!

Competition 2025

National BE classes run on all three days.

From BE90 – Intermediate

We will be doing everything we can to give our competitors, sponsors, volunteers and visitors the most fabulous experience, generous prize money and some great entertainment.

The organisers will make the going their top priority and it is likely to be perfect.  There are two water complexes and a mix of natural permanent obstacles and portables. This is an ideal viewing course for owners, trainers and family.

Our showjumping arena has state of the art sports drainage and our dressage arenas are sited away from the Main Arena and Cross Country course in a quiet area of the park. Our event is supported by live scoring.

On site stabling is available for national competitors.

Northumberland Challenge

British Eventing venues Belsay, Alnwick Ford and Burgham International Horse Trials are delighted to announce the launch of the 2024 Northumberland Challenge, which will include the CCI3*-S, CC2*-S and for the first time, the BE100 competitions across the three venues, with a total potential prize pot of £61,000.

Hambro Sport Horses will headline the CCI3*-S challenge, N.I.S Limited sponsor the CCI2*-S challenge, with InXpress Tyne & Wear and Equestrian Eye taking joint sponsorship of the BE100 challenge.

We have spoken to our sponsors (Hambro Sport Horses, N.I.S Group Limited, InXpress Tyne & Wear and Equestrian Eye) and McClarrons, the specialist insurance brokers that help to make the Prize Pot, and the good news is that the Northumberland Challenge will now ‘roll over’ with the final to be held at Belsay International 2025.”
